Prof Chan to Speak at Global Algae Summit 2026
Prof. Chan, founder of MIPO AlgaX and director of the MIPO Biorefinery Lab, will be a featured speaker at the Global Algae Summit 2026, scheduled for 19 August 2026 from 9:30 AM to 5:00 PM at Sunway University. Bringing together international researchers, industry leaders, and sustainability advocates, the event offers a platform where Prof. Chan will share insights into microalgae innovation and discuss strategies for translating cutting-edge laboratory research into scalable commercial applications that drive the global bioeconomy forward.
MEET THE TEAM
PROF. ENG-SENG CHAN
FOUNDER
Prof. Chan is a Professor of Chemical Engineering at Monash University Malaysia and the Founding Director of the MIPO Biorefinery Research Laboratory. With over 20 years of experience in process engineering and bio-based product development, he has led industrial projects with multinational companies including PETRONAS, Arkema, Novonesis, B. Braun, and Procter & Gamble. He drives MIPO AlgaX’s technology innovation and commercialization strategy.
DR. CHER PIN SONG
CO-FOUNDER
Dr. Song is a Senior Lecturer in Chemical Engineering at Monash University Malaysia and Deputy Director of the MIPO Biorefinery Research Laboratory. His research expertise spans sustainable bioprocessing, microalgae valorization, protein and carbohydrate extraction, and protein functionalization. He leads business operations, translating strategic plans into execution, drives operational efficiency, and ensures the organization delivers its business objectives.
DR. CHARANJIT KAUR
CO-FOUNDER
Dr. Charanjit is a Research Fellow at the MIPO Biorefinery Research Laboratory with extensive industry experience in startup environments, product development, plant commissioning, and facility operations. Her expertise covers the scale-up of upstream and downstream processes from laboratory research to pilot production. She leads technology development initiatives, driving innovations from early-stage R&D through commercialization while ensuring technical feasibility and effective technology transfer.
